San Diego ‘Museum of Man’
The San Diego ‘Museum of Man’, or the Museum of Man, San Diego, is also globally famous as Museum of Anthropology is located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California.

The museum’s collections and permanent exhibits focus on pre-Columbian history of western America, with written material of Amerindian culture in the region of Southern California, Mesoamerican civilizations like the Maya, and Andean civilizations such as the Moche.
The museum also has a magnificent collection of ancient Egypt, and many others from all around the world. The total number of artifacts: approximately 72,000 collections, and more than 37,000 historical photographs, which are mainly of Amerindians.
The museum traces its origins to the Panama-California Exposition, which opened in 1915 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Panama Canal. The central exhibit of the exhibition, “The Story of Man through the ages “, was obtained under the direction of archaeologist Dr. Edgar Lee Hewett of the School of American Archeology. He organized expeditions to collect pre-Columbian ceramics and to the American Southwest guatemala for reproductions of objects and monuments of the Maya civilization.
Many other materials were obtained from the dispatches sent by the Smithsonian anthropologist Ales Hrdli?ka Institution, which brought together casts and specimens from Africa, Siberia, Alaska and Southeast Asia. Osteological remains repanados and skull of Peru were also obtained.
